Synopsis:
Teen fatherhood is associated with many risk factors, including delinquency and drug use. Through teen parent services, counseling, educational enrichment and job search assistance, these young fathers are able to move their lives in a different direction.

Background:
In a study of teenage parents and their children, disinterest in child rearing most consistently predicted univolvement. Fathers were less likely than mothers to report paternal disinterest as a barrier and more likely to attribute their lack of involvement to resistance in mothers. Of the fathers who cited disinterest, there was an association with lack of money and knowledge of childcare. Most teen fathers in this study were involved and interested in child rearing.Men who are teen fathers complete fewer years of education and are less likely to finish high school compared with men who are not teen fathers. These educational deficits persist even after family and personal characteristics are taken into account.

Teen fathers enter the labor market earlier and initially earn more money than do other men; by the time teen fathers reach their mid-20’s, however, they earn less. After controlling for personal traits and family background, the long term earning deficits of teem fathers disappear implying that teen fathers are as capable of providing for their children as are other young men from similarly disadvantaged backgrounds.

PERSONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Though there are many reasons teens become depressed, a disconnection from their parents is a common contributor. This disconnect is often at the root of the withdrawal and isolation that are characteristic of teen depression, as teens have given up on developing a tight bond with their parents and others. “Like adults, teens need to feel heard,”
Based on the stories that we’ve read the Adolescent fathers were scared to tell their parents about their problem. So the first program that we’ve decided to propose to them is a family retreat so that they could open up to each other easier in the mere future if the
adolescent father/mother needs help from their parents

 LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FATHER

  • providing a home for the child
  • having contact with and living with the child
  • protecting and maintaining the child
  • disciplining the child
  • choosing and providing for the child's education
  • determining the religion of the child
  • agreeing to the child's medical treatment
  • naming the child and agreeing to any change of the child's name
  • accompanying the child outside the UK and agreeing to the child's emigration, should the issue arise
  • being responsible for the child's property
  • appointing a guardian for the child, if necessary
  • allowing confidential information about the child to be disclosed.

ECONOMICS
Always remember that you have a wife and children to feed. Save as much as possible. Remember, a penny saved is a penny earned. Cut down on unnecessary spending, and you will have more money as a result. It is difficult to make even 10% on any investment, but if you can stock away even 20% of the money you have, you will have a guaranteed 20%. Always pay yourself first.

ACADEMICS:

Take Classes

Not only in college but in childbirth and parenting classes prepare teen mothers for the challenges they will face. Childbirth classes teach teen moms what to expect during the process. The classes teach basic baby care, which is essential to help the baby grow properly. Parenting classes provide strategies for handling the baby at various stages. Classes are often offered free at hospitals and other birthing facilities.
